Or, you know, you could just stop saying sorry.

"i have a problem i can’t control"

"stop having that problem omg"

????¿¿¿¿????

Hi… Gonna go all SJ here, so let me apologize in advance for that, but people who say “sorry” a lot typically say it to avoid being yelled at or treated harshly.  …and in my case, it was because I had a mother who blamed me for everything and kissing her feet was the only way to dodge a beating.

So!  Just so you know!  I’m sure that’s not the case for everyone, but if someone apologizes frequently, then it might be because they were conditioned to be that way.

If someone keeps saying sorry, dont tell them to stop sayin sorry, kindly encourage them by saying things like “its ok” or “You’ve done nothing wrong”

Obviously if saying sorry is a habit theres something lying deeper than just saying sorry so be mindful of other people and communicate with them if you really want to help them.

ALso fi they say they dont want to talk about something, dont talk about it

Speaking as someone who was ‘conditioned to be that way’… The only way to get me to ‘snap out of it’ is to treat me kindly. Let me know I haven’t done anything wrong, and that it’s OK to stop apologizing. That I don’t actually need to. That you’re not upset with me. Because telling me to stop only makes me want to apologize….for apologizing. It becomes an never-ending cycle and usually I start hating myself by the time I break it myself. So. Yeah, there’s that.

I also “conditioned” myself to say sorry a lot. My stepmother and I didn’t get along and I lost every argument cause I was the kid. Eventually you learn that sorry is just easier than continually fighting every second.
